Job Overview
The Automation Engineer works in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to design various projects focused on Plasma in the mining, metallurgical, and military fields.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Participate in defining the architecture of control systems
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary project team in the design of P&ID and HAZOP
- Select equipment and instrumentation
- Design switch cabinets
- Perform or supervise the programing of programable logic controllers and SCADA user interfaces
- Supervise the work of technicians or engineers on projects
- Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical/instrumentation)
- Participate in the testing and commissioning of systems at the factory and customer sites
- Perform other duties as required by the immediate supervisor and for which the person is qualified
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Automated Production Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec
- Experience in programing control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS, HMI)
- Experience in designing automation and control systems
- Experience in electrical design and drafting
- Expertise in pre-operational checks and equipment start-up
- Excellent analyzing and problem-solving skills *Demonstrable autonomy, adaptability, and attention to detail
- Available to travel internationally (as needed)
- Asset: Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, EPLAN, OSI Soft, VM, SQL products
- Asset: Knowledge of the Electrical Code and CSA standards
