Job Overview
Reporting to Fabrication & Infrastructure Manager, the Welder / Assembly Technician takes part in the manufacture and assembly of systems/equipment, and more particularly in welded plumbing.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Weld parts from drawings and sketches
- Perform manual welding (TIG) or semi-automatic welding (MIG) on carbon and stainless steel using many types of welding equipment set up in a variety of positions, such as flat, vertical horizontal, and overhead
- Performing other assembly and fabrication tasks
- Plan work from drawings or specifications and select fluxes and base metals
- Select and set up the welding equipment
- Perform other duties as required by the immediate supervisor and for which the person is qualified
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in Welding or relevant experience
- Knowledge of Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc (MIG) welding
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Experience welding stainless steel
- Qualification in plumbing welding, butt welding, socket welding: an asset
- Organized & detail oriented
- Able to lift heavy loads
- Hand – eye -coordination
- Team player
- Knowledge of English (written and spoken) is an asset
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Schedule and duration
- This position is part-time (2 days a week) for three months. It could lead to a permanent full-time position.
