Job Overview
The Process Technician / Materials / Metallurgical / Chemical Engineering is responsible for monitoring and improving engineering processes. The Process Technician must have a deep understanding of the equipment they are responsible for. He must also assemble small-scale set-ups, perform bench scale tests in a pilot lab or plant, fill out operation sheets and record observations.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Operate different processes at a small-scale or in a plant
- Assemble and modify equipment in lab and pilot scale set-ups
- Make non-destructive test set-ups about equipment and materials
- Perform tests on plasma reactors
- Ensure that the work environment is safe and clean
- Collect data and observations during pilot lab or bench scale tests
- Support chemical and mechanical engineering teams, when needed
- Communicate all essential data through reports or verbally to the immediate supervisor
- Find solutions to different problems encountered during manufacturing projects or operation
- Participate in risk studies and process evaluations
- Fill out various documents for the ISO9001 quality management system
- Train others to conduct tasks related to processes
- Perform other duties as required by the immediate supervisor and for which the person is qualified
Education & Qualifications
- DCS in Material or metallurgy or chemical process techniques/technician
- Be in good physical condition
- Problem-solving attitude
- Organized
- Possess good manual skills
- Good knowledge of the fundamental operations in processes
- Detail oriented, meticulous, and punctual
- Able to work alone or in team
- Able to read drawings & P&IDs
- Bilingual (written and spoken)
Experience
- 1-3 years of related experience
- Knowledge in plumbing and ability to used tools safely is an asset
- Experience in metal casting and powder metallurgy is highly desirable
