Overview

Plasma is the forth state of matter (the other three being solid, liquid and gas) and is an ionized gas that conducts electricity. PyroGenesis designs and manufactures its own unique plasma torch which converts air into a plasma by passing it through an arc of electricity. This highly reactive plasma, generating temperature of in the neighborhood of 5,000 °C is capable of converting waste material into its basic molecular state. In doing so, the organic fraction is converted into a synthesis gas used for energy recovery, while the inorganic fraction is converted into useful products, such as construction materials.

PyroGenesis’ advanced waste treatment technologies are suitable for a variety of industrial, hazardous, municipal, and clinical waste streams. They include our world-leading Plasma Arc Waste Destruction System (PAWDS) for non-hazardous combustible ship-board applications and our unique “waste-to-energy” Plasma Resource Recovery System (PRRS) for hazardous, industrial, clinical and municipal solid waste.

PyroGenesis designs and manufactures its own 50 to 500 kilowatt Plasma Torch Systems for use in its waste treatment systems as well as for sale to third parties.
