Marine Waste Treatment Market
Historically, ship board waste was shredded and disposed of over board. In 1973, the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships was adopted by the International Maritime Organisation. The ‘MARPOL 73/78’ convention is intended to prevent the pollution of the marine environment by discharge of harmful waste and effluents from ships.
The storage of ship board waste takes up valuable space and the eventual disposal in port is costly. PyroGenesis’ easy to use Plasma Arc Waste Destruction System (PAWDS) with its small-sized single deck design, having rapid start-up and shutdown capabilities, is well suited for treating such waste with system capacities ranging from 0.1 to 15 TPD.
The PAWDS technology is also ideally suited for cargo ships, ferries, super-yachts and oil tankers and has land based applications as a portable waste treatment technology.
